Event description

Description

The Foundry Community Rowing and Sailing Center is a youth-oriented non-profit organizaton founded in 2015, with the three-part goal of using the unique synchrony of rowing to teach youth the life-long values of teamwork, personal accountability and peristence; of associating rowing and sailing with the importance of wellness and water; and of promoting Cleveland as a combined rowing and sailing mecca. Our vision is to provide every young person with the opportunity to experience the joys of rowing and sailing and the advantages that learning on the water brings to the classroom and to life.

Of the 5500 students we engage annually, some 60 percent come to us from hard to reach pockets of Cleveland.

Our rowing facility is home to a CMSD School of One.

Given our waterfront locations, the environment is a key component of everything we do.

Our Common Ground conversation will explore ways to put the environment at or near the top of the list of topics Greater Clevelanders consider as important. Our hosts will include students and staff from the Foundry who share their views of what it means to be a Green City on a Blue Lake.
