Event Details

Rachel G. Hackenberg is an author, speaker, ordained minister, and soccer mom. Her newest book, Denial Is My Spiritual Practice (and Other Failures of Faith) with co-author Martha Spong, explores faith’s failure to provide answers through experiences of illness and divorce, abuse and death. Rachel is often a guest preacher and retreat leader for ecumenical events.

What you can expect at our Retreat:
Once Upon a Time: an invitation into that tender space of telling our stories, of listening to one another, and of looking at our faith through the lens of scripture in order to hear new insight and reclaim our foundation. With author and clergywoman Rachel G. Hackenberg, we'll reflect on God's story within our stories -- its highest hopes and wildest imagination, its trials and joys, its connections and ongoing
revelations -- in five sessions:
• One: Story as Truth
• Two: Story as Location
• Three: Story as Metaphor
• Four: Story as Prophecy
• Five: Story as Re-Creation
