I'm bringing together a small group of 12 friends for an amazing storytelling experience in Havana, Cuba. This trip is sponsored by my non-profit Faith Leaders for Community change and will be an "educational research" visit per government guidelines for travel to Cuba. The purpose of this trip is twofold. This experience will give us greater insight into the stories out of which we have been living through the lens of the Black Diaspora. With that awareness we will also build a deeper sense of connection between each of our stories and re-imagine the stories we are called to co-create for our futures.
The beautiful, storied city of Havana, Cuba is home to a rich and complicated history that will serve as a fertile setting for our experience as people of African decent. Havana has been a significant part of my own story of redemption. I want to share this aspect of my story with you and invite you to explore and experience Cuba through the lens of your story.

- Reflection on personal stories
- Group story dialogue with travel companions
- Dedicated time for writing and ClereJourney exercises designed to foster a deeper sense of self and who we are meant to be in the world.
Each day we will also visit historic sites, meet new people, and take in the stories of this amazing city. Throughout this tour you will see and reflect on the many sides of life in Havana: poverty, issues of race, and classism. This is a city where tourism collides with poverty and privilege at every turn. As we learn about the stories that shape life in Havana, we will reflect on the stories that have shaped our lives.
