As a member of the CleanTech North community, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us and your cleantech community peers for our first meeting of the year, from 4 to 7 p.m. on February 21st, 2019 in downtown Toronto.

We would first of all like to gratefully acknowledge our new host, Goodmans LLP, which is making their central and well-equipped event facility available to the CleanTech North community. 

Following the below agenda, there will be an opportunity for networking, refreshments, and private meetings on-site.

Panel Moderator
Richard Corley is a partner at Goodmans and leads the firm’s Cleantech practice group. Combining his legal expertise with a unique background in engineering, mathematics, computer science and business, Richard's practice focuses on the intersection of law and technology. Richard has over 25 years of experience advising clients on complex outsourcing transactions, technology M&A, joint ventures, cleantech and other technology-related matters.

Panel Participants
Tom Rand, P.Eng., Ph.D. is Managing Partner, ARCTERN VENTURES and Senior Advisor, MaRS Cleantech Venture Group. Tom founded Voice Courier Inc. (VCi) in 1991 to service the emerging Interactive Voice Response market. Tom led VCi’s expansion to over 100 employees in three countries.  Tom now focuses his efforts on carbon mitigation and is active in cleantech venture capital, technology incubation and commercialization, and public advocacy.  He is also the author of Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit & Waking the Frog.

Shirley Speakman is a Senior Partner with Cycle Capital, based in Toronto. Cycle Capital’s portfolio covers the plastics and polymer upcycling and transformation, IoT and energy storage and efficiency industries.  Prior to joining Cycle Shirley was with the Investment Accelerator Fund a $40M+ venture capital fund established by the Ontario government to invest in seed and early-stage technology companies in Ontario.  

Greg Stewart is Principal of GreenSky Capital and and Investment Committee member of the GreenSky Accelerator Fund.  Previously he was Chief Financial Officer of American Strategic Insurance (ASI), helping revenue grow from $38 million to >$500 million and executing $168 million of transactions.
