Event description

Description

Inspired to use your old sewing machine, but realizing it needs a little spring cleaning? Sew Queer DC is teaming up with Matt from The Make Fix Anything Project to help you clean, tune, and learn the basics of using your machine!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Bring us your sewing machine!

  2. Work with Matt to learn how to dust off, oil, and correct the tension on your sewing machine. Matt will provide tools and know-how so you can learn to fix it yourself!

  3. Work with Molly from Sew Queer DC to find your machine’s manual online, learn how to thread it, and start sewing!

  4. Take your sparkly machine home!

While we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to fix every single machine, we will help you understand how your machine works and what replacement parts you may need to buy for major fixes. Molly will also have fabric and thread on hand for you to practice your newly acquired sewing skills on!

This event is open to all genders and identities. All you need is a sewing machine and desire to tinker with it!
