Our Clean Up Day this year will be Saturday, May 20th. We'll begin at 8:00 AM and run until about 1:00 PM or however long it takes or we tire out. Any time spent by an all volunteer group is appreciated. We will be meeting at the Boat House parking lot where we'll have liability forms to be signed and also have plenty of water bottles to keep us all hydrated.
Robert Costa, Newark's Maintenance Superintendent, will be participating and while he has some plans of his own to address drainage concerns in a couple of spots around the Lake, he will be available to guide us as necessary. We're fortunate to have City Staff who are willing to donate their time also.
As for equipment, there will be some basic hand tools & pruners provided but Robert did ask that those who can to bring about 10 "hard" rakes, as many hand pruners and loping pruners as you all would like. And 2-5 wheel barrows also. The City will be providing a large amount of mulch that will need to be distributed and we'll have the plans for that. LARA will also be providing a large number of 5-gallon buckets for this purpose for which they should work perfectly.
One thing that Robert stated emphatically is NO POWER TOOLS. It's just too much of a liability.
