Event description

Description

On the 25th February, Kaitlyn Lockyer, the young daughter of conservationist Dr Robert Locker, and her kindergarten friends will hold a beach cleanup at TaiWan To (Power station beach) on Lamma Island followed by a picnic.

Kaitlyn and her friends have been watching and seeing her daddy and other amazing people all over Hong Kong cleaning up the beaches and really want to do something to help, so to support her wishes we (AquaMeridian Conservation & Education Foundation) are co-hosting this event together with The European Union Office of Hong Kong and Macao

Additionally to coincide with this event we would like to invite Hong Kong’s domestic helpers to join as it’s a Sunday and many helpers have expressed an interest in cleaning up our beaches.

Following the picnic (Bring A Plate of Food to Share) we will be holding beach team games and fun activities together with music, face painting and even a impromptu dancing competition

This is a zero waste event and all consumables are enviromentally friendly and/or reusable. It is also a BYOB — Bring Your Own Bottle event with no single use plastic bottles avaialble on the day.

The event will start at 10:00am (with people arriving on the 9:30am ferry from Central) - the beach cleanup kicking of at 10:30am until 12:00noon - then whilst lunch is being prepared and organized games and beach activities will be arranged for the kids and helpers involvement. The day will end around 2:30 however many people may wish to continue to enjoy the day and Lamma Island.

We expect about 200 plus people, including children, helpers, and parents.
