North Carolina Legislative Update on Major Legislation (2hr-Pending)

Instructor: Marshall Hurley

Marshall Hurley was licensed to practice law in NC in 1981. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University School of Law. After three years of private law practice, he served as chief of staff and legislative director to U.S. Congressman Howard Coble in Washington,D.C. (1985-88). In 1988, he joined Patton Boggs (now Squire Patton Boggs) an international lobbying and public policy law firm, and subsequently became a partner. Mr. Hurley's practice there included civil litigation and handling governmental issues. Mr. Hurley started his own practice in 2000, focusing on political clients, election law and state and local government matters. Since that time, Mr. Hurley has maintained his government-related practice; he has also served as of counsel to the statewide law firm of Crumley Roberts. He has been a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro since 1999, where he teaches graduate courses in law and state and federal lobbying in the political science department. He has regularly presented continuing legal education and legal training courses to attorneys and legal support staff on election law and legal ethics.
