The Connectional Lay Council of the A.M.E. Zion Church presents a Technology and Social Media Webinar Series to provide basic training about the uses of technology and social media. The six online sessions, hosted on the second Thursday of each month from 8pm-9pm EST, will focus on using the Microsoft Office suite, conference call platforms, email marketing programs, and the various social media platforms.

You can log in from your computer to follow along with our presenter, LaKesha Womack, as she uses her screen to walk you through using the different tools and explain how they can be used to build your ministry.

Technology 101

Thursday, November 9, 2017, 8pm-9pm

We often assume that everyone understands how to use basic applications like the Microsoft Office Suite and the ease of cloud sharing. This session will walk participants through the basics of creating:

  • Microsoft Word documents with proper formatting including using hyperlinks
  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to create budgets
  • Microsoft PowerPoint slides for presentations
  • Google Drive for cloud sharing
  • UberConference and Free Conference Call for online/phone meetings

Graphic Design 101

Why do some promotional event flyers look so much better than others? How can you have nice designs without paying an arm and a leg? In this session, we will discuss some tools that you can use with little to no experience to create designs to promote your ministry.

Socially Savvy 101

Understanding the many social media platforms can be time-consuming. During the Socially Savvy Series, we will walk through the shortcuts of effectively using the top social media platforms. In the first session, we will focus our attention on managing personal profiles, groups, and professional pages on Facebook.

Having an online presence is critical for most businesses, organizations, and churches. In this session, we will discuss the basics of purchasing domains and designing, hosting and maintaining websites. Participants will leave with a basic understanding of blogs, online stores, membership sites and basic websites.

Email Marketing 101

Thursday, May 10, 2018, 8pm-9pm EST

Collecting email addresses is the first step to direct communication with your members. In this session, we will discuss creating subject lines that get attention, how to create templates for easy distribution and how to understand and improve your open rates. We will review the two most commonly used email marketing platforms – MailChimp and Constant Contact.
