Event description

Description

Do you have a passion for poetry? Are you a lover of linguistics? If you or a friend have poems or any prose (writing other than poetry), piece you would like to share, come on out and join us for a night of creative talent and fun! Our purpose is to inspire children and youth to use writing as a tool for creatively expressing themselves in a way that can allow them to have a healthy outlet and empower them to make a positive difference in their community! This is a free event, so sign up while spots last! Ages 9-90 (child-friendly material please).

C.L.A.Y. was born out of the scripture, Isaiah 64:8:

"Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand."
Our Heavenly Father is the Potter and we are the clay that he molds into his masterpiece. As we go through our lives, every circumstance allows us to be molded more into His image, as we learn to trust Him, and it is through His Word that we are shaped. In writing our own words to communicate our individual experiences, and emotions, we develop more of an understanding of ourselves and those around us. Our perspective changes as we become more aware of our own choices in words and actions, while we read back through what we have written and consider the power it has to hurt, or heal; to bring understanding or cause confusion; to offer empathy, and share knowledge. The Potter continues to perfect us as we are able to reflect back and see our growth, prayerfully helping others as we ultimately share our testimonies through the words that echo from our soul through the pen, to the paper. C.L.A.Y. Poetry is about the process of trusting God at His Word in Phillipians 1:6 "...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
