The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is a research-based observation tool that is used to help teachers and schools improve the effectiveness of classroom interactions. Adult and child interactions promote toddlers’ social, emotional and cognitive development. These interactions lay the foundation for all subsequent child development making a focus on strengthening connections absolutely critical for improving child outcomes.
During this session, participants will:
- Review toddler development and classroom implications
- Learn about the domains Emotional and Behavioral Support and Engaged Support for Learning
- Understand the eight dimensions within the two domains
- View exemplary videos
- Reflect on the CLASS tool and understand the link between effective teacher-infant interactions and child outcomes
