A musical portrait of composer/singer/dancer George M. Cohan. From his early days as a child-star in his family's vaudeville show up to the time of his comeback at which he received a medal from the president for his special contributions to the US, this is the life- story of George M. Cohan, who produced, directed, wrote and starred in his own musical shows for which he composed his famous songs. Winner of three Oscars: Best Actor in a Leading Role (James Cagney), Best Music/Scoring of a Musical Picture and Best Sound and nominated for five more, Yankee Doodle Dandy is a patriotic showcase on a grand scale.
The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation present Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community interested in classic films to attend. Free popcorn and refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Hagler Auditorium of the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
