Description

The Classical Concert Series, within the College of Communication and the Arts’ Arts Council, will present two silent films with scores performed live as part of the 2019 SOMA Film Festival on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 7 p.m. in the Jubilee Hall Auditorium on the Seton Hall campus.

Experience the excitement and joy of silent film with performances by 20 Digitus, named a Top 50 Favorite Artist by Artslandia, and The Alloy Orchestra, a three-man ensemble that writes and performs soundtracks to classic silent films.

The evening will feature the following films:

Ghosts Before Breakfast, a 1928 animated short film directed by Hans Richter. With the use of stop motion and live action, the short film tells the story of everyday objects rebelling against their daily routine.\

Speedy, a 1928 comedy directed by Ted Wilde. Follow Harold “Speedy” Swift, a fan of Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees, as he saves the city’s last horse-drawn trolley from extinction.

Following the screenings, a discussion will be facilitated by Ghost Before Breakfast’s soundtrack composer and Assistant Professor of Sound Production and Engineering Dag Gabrielsen, Ph.D., along with Associate Professor and Musicologist, Paul Christiansen, Ph.D.

Admission is free!
