Event Details

First-Year Family Weekend, planned each year by the First-Year Class and the Collis Center for Student Involvement, presents many opportunities for families to learn about how students achieve and succeed at Dartmouth. We hope you will join us and get a feel for Dartmouth's unique location in the Upper Valley during this fun-filled and action-packed weekend!

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about registration:

Q: HOW MUCH IS REGISTRATION?

A: The majority of the events for this weekend are completely free of change. However, in order to attend many of the events, you will need your name badge that comes when you check-in at registration. On-site registration will be available all day Friday and on Saturday morning but pre-registration is encouraged. Please note that other campus departments may be hosting events that require a paid ticket (i.e. productions at the Hopkins Center, canoe rentals, etc.). The schedule will specify which events have an additional cost.

Q: HOW MANY FAMILY MEMBERS MAY ATTEND?

A: There is no limit. The more the merrier!

Q: DO I NEED TO REGISTER MY DARTMOUTH STUDENT?

A: No need - your Dartmouth student can attend all Family Weekend-sponsored events.

Q: ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO ATTEND?

A: Yes, children are welcome, but childcare services are not provided.

Q: WHAT DO I NEED FOR CHECK IN?

A: You just need yourself and your family! As long as you've received a confirmation email from Eventbrite after completing your registration, you're all set. When you arrive, we will mark you as here and provide you with a registration packet and name tag lanyards, which will function as you and your family's tickets into all of our events. Check in will happen in the Collis Center's Common Ground on Friday from 11 am – 8 pm and again on Saturday from 8 am – 12 Noon.

Q: ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS IS IN A WHEELCHAIR. WILL ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES BE PROVIDED?

A: Please contact us (family.weekends@dartmouth.edu or 603-646-3399) to arrange for this. In order to ensure the best experience for all attendees, please let us know by April 26 in order to ensure everything is ready for your arrival.

Collis Center for Student Involvement

The Collis Center is situated on the main intersection of campus (on the southwest corner of the Green) and the location is symbolic of its influence at Dartmouth. Collis is the student center and is the heart of campus life at Dartmouth. From grabbing a quick meal in the Cafe to attending student-sponsored activities, the Collis Center is your home away from home.

The Student Involvement Office is responsible for over 180 student organizations, eight governance groups, and hundreds of events each year! The office also plans many of the large Dartmouth traditions like Bonfire, Winter Carnival, and Family Weekends; but more importantly, we can help you create your own Dartmouth experience!

The work of the Collis Center for Student Involvement Office is a vital part of the College. We work hard to prepare students for a lifetime of learning and responsible leadership by helping them build critical life skills that can be used inside and outside the classroom. Through students’ work with our office they engage in discovery, learning and civic engagement that will serve them both during their Dartmouth years, but also well into their future.
