Description

Sound Familiar?

“What are we supposed to be doing in our PLCs?”

“Is it legal to prioritize standards?”

“How do I know my common assessment is an accurate measure of student learning?”

“What do we do about the students who just aren’t getting it?”

This 2-day workshop provides superintendents, principals, instructional coaches, interventionists, and classroom teachers the clarity necessary to do the right work of a PLC. We will learn specific protocol for prioritizing standards, developing learning targets, and writing common assessments that match the intended levels of rigor of the academic standards. Participants will be guided through a process for developing a standards-aligned curriculum and learn how to implement specific instructional and assessment routines to increase the effectiveness of core instruction while decreasing the numbers of students filtered into the systems of interventions.

*While the PLC process transcends content area, we will be paying special attention to the 2010 MN Academic Standards in English Language Arts as the instructional and assessment implications of these standards are widely misunderstood and challenging the great majority of Minnesota school districts.
