CLARIAH Media Studies Summer school

Description
This one-week event introduces scholars (senior, phd, and research master students) to the CLARIAH tools for advanced audio-visual analysis provided in the CLARIAH Media suite (mediasuite.clariah.nl, forthcoming version 3) in combination with other tools that enable scholars to explore and work with major digitized Dutch cultural heritage collections of Beeld & Geluid, KB newspapers, EYE Desmet collection, Oral history collections, among others.
The keynote speakers are Eric Hoyt and Dana Mustata. The participants will work in small teams on specific research projects. Project work will be supported by leading digital humanities experts, information experts, and software developers of the CLARIAH media studies team, including Julia Noordegraaf, Roeland Ordelman, Lora Aroyo, Marijn Koolen, Jaap Blom, Willem Melder, Marcel Broersma, Jasmijn van Gorp, Thomas Poell, Eva Baaren, Susan Aasman, Susan Hoogervorst, Carlos Martinez Ortiz, Norah Karrouche, Kaspar Beelen, Christian Olesen, Liliana Melgar, among others. Registration is free.
There are two types of participation:
-Full participation: joining the entire week, which includes three one-day workshops on searching, analyzing, and visualizing data, as well as the first and last day of keynotes and presentations. These sessions are recommended to scholars (academics, PhD and research master students). Registration is limited to 25 participants, preferably with an affiliation with a Dutch or CLARIAH partner/collaborating institution.
-First and final day participation: during which the CLARIAH Media Suite, the pilot projects, and summer school research projects will be presented. The keynotes by Eric Hoyt and Dana Mustata are scheduled on these two days. Registration is open to everyone!
