Event description

Description

Friends of the Parks' Earth Day Parks & Preserves Clean Up and Celebration began 28 years ago as a way to engage communities in their local parks and forest preserves. Today, FOTP partners with a multitude of other groups including: Friends of the Forest Preserves, Chicago Park District, and Forest Preserve District of Cook County.

Love Your Mother Earth: 28th Annual Earth Day Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9AM to Noon, in parks throughout the Chicago area. From Noon to 2PM there will be a celebration at Humboldt Park (including lunch, games, and activities for all ages)!

Celebrate Earth Day at Clarendon Park in Uptown! Register at this link to volunteer at the park on earth day to help us welcome Spring and spruce up the park after a long winter. Take the opportunity to learn about all the programs our fabulous park has to offer.

Volunteer activities will include trash pick-up around the fields and field house, repainting of park benches, fixing garden fencing and cleaning up the boce ball court. The Clarendon Park Community Garden Group will be hosting a planting table, that will show kids how to reuse containers to make safe growing environments for plants. Also, you will be able to see the Gardeners get their plots started for 2017 and do the first turning of the Soil Center Compost bin.

Don't forget, you'll also get an official park earth day t-shirt! Email the Clarendon Park Advisory Council with any questions at clarendonparkadvisorycouncil@gmail.com
