Clara Siverstein will chat about and sign her book Secrets In a House Divided: A Novel of Civil War Richmond.

Clara Silverstein is the author of White Girl: A Story of School Desegregation and three cookbooks. Her work has appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered and in publications including American Heritage, Southern Cultures, Blackbird, and The Boston Globe. The former program director of the Chautauqua Writers’ Center, she lives in Boston.

About Secrets In a House Divided:

Set in Richmond, Virginia as the Confederacy is about to topple, Secrets in a House Divided reveals the complicated relationship across racial lines between a young mother and the enslaved woman who works in her home. Each one faces increasingly fraught risks and consequences, enduring unimaginable hardships as she fights to protect what she holds most dear. The novel exposes the forces behind the upheaval over slavery whose echoes continue today.
