All CJE members are invited and encouraged to attend the 2017 Annual Meeting of Citizens for Judicial Excellence. This meeting is one of the more important meetings for CJE members as we are gearing up for the 2018 elections and working on providing input for current and upcoming district court vacancies.
The CJE Board will review CJE's financial status, accomplishments during 2016, and goals for 2017 and beyond as we plan for the 2018 municipal and district court elections.
The meeting will feature a comprehensive district-by-district Judicial Intelligence Report for King and Snohomish counties. There will be a significant number of open seats in 2018 as well as vacancies to be filled by the King and Snohomish county councils as well as the Seattle City Council.
We will have a discussion about indentifying promising judicial candidates and building a farm team of pro tems who will be well-prepared to run for office in 2018 as well as applying for upcoming vacancies.
All members are encouraged to attend and share ideas on races where CJE might play an important role, discuss potential judicial candidates, and “fact check” any rumors that might be floating around out there. As usual we will have our closed door, candid and freewheeling discussion about the state of the bench. A straw poll and discussion of the results will help guide the organization's leadership in the coming year.
The meeting commences on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at the Logan Building in downtown Seattle located at 500 Union St, 9th Floor. Please be on time as the building's main doors are locked at 6:00 — we will have someone at the doors to allow entry until 6:15. Paid parking is available in nearby buildings such as City Centre, the Washington Athletic Club, and Hilton Hotel on 6th Avenue.
A light dinner of sandwiches, beverages and desert will be provided courtesy of CJE. Please check the CJE website at www.cjepac.com for further meeting details.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, March 7 so that we can arrange for adequate seating and food/beverages. This is your opportunity, as a CJE member, to discuss important issues for 2017 and beyond. Please note that this meeting is open only to CJE members in good standing* and is not open to guests. In addition, all discussions during the meeting are confidential and intended for CJE members only.
We look forward to seeing you there.
