Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney
Deputy Director and COO of the African American Museum of Dallas , W. Marvin Dulaney, Ph.D., is a native of Alliance, Ohio. His background includes being former chair of the University of Texas at Arlington history department and former 14-year executive director of the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture in Charleston, S. C. Also named in his honor is the W. Marvin Dulaney Dallas-Fort Worth Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History – a local branch that Dr. Dulaney founded. He earned his history doctorate from Ohio State University and graduated magna cum laude as an undergraduate history major at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He has served on local boards and edited and written many scholarly reviews and articles.
Mrs. Xernona Clayton | 2021 Honoree
Xernona Clayton Brady is an American civil rights leader, pioneering broadcasting executive, author and philanthropist. During the Civil Rights Movement, she worked for the National Urban League and Southern Christian Leadership Conference, where she became involved in the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Xernona Clayton is the Founder, President and CEO of the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc. and Creator and Executive Producer of the Foundation's Trumpet Awards.
The Honorable Andrew Jackson Young, Jr. | 2021 Honoree
Andrew Jackson Young Jr. is an American politician, diplomat, and activist. Beginning his career as a pastor, Young was an early leader in the civil rights movement, serving as executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and a close confidant to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..
Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1981. Presented by President Jimmy Carter.
Rev. C. T. Vivian | 2021 Honoree Posthumously
Cordy Tindell Vivian was an American minister, author, and close friend and lieutenant of Dr, Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement. Vivian resided in Atlanta, Georgia, and founded the C. T. Vivian Leadership Institute, Inc. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. Presented by President Barack Obama.

The Honorable John Lewis | 2021 Honoree Posthumously
John Robert Lewis was an American politician and civil rights activist and leader who served in the United States House of Representatives for Georgia's 5th congressional district from 1987 until his death in 2020. He was the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee from 1963 to 1966.
Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. Presented by President Barack Obama.
