Event Details

Please note: This event is only open to government employees! But we have events open to everyone too.

Resilience and placemaking are two of the most popular buzzwords in urban design and planning. But what do these words really mean? Join us for a conversation with Laetitia Wolff, Program Director of AIGA/NY's Design/Relief, about how designers are working with communities to understand neighborhoods and tackle local challenges in resilience and placemaking.

We are excited to co-host with the NYU School of Engineering Urban Future Lab in Downtown Brooklyn.

Laetitia Wolff is AIGA/NY Design/Relief’s Program Director and a respected design curator/writer, a.k.a. a cultural engineer, whose work explore the connection between design to urban issues. With a recent emphasis on creative placemaking, she brings leadership to both art directing design teams and shepherding community-based projects. www.aigany.org

Civic Service is a series of events aimed at connecting driven civil servants, exposing them to ground-breaking ideas and projects from across all sectors, and teaching them problem-solving tools and techniques. We also hold events for the greater civic innovation community that explore government projects, processes and practices. Civic Service is an initiative from the Parsons DESIS Lab.

The NYU School of Engineering Urban Future Lab is a groundbreaking facility designed to assist clean technology and energy entrepreneurs with the unique challenges they face in starting and growing a business in New York City. NYCEDC partnered with New York University's Polytechnic School of Engineering to design and operate the 10,000 square foot facility that concentrates activities and services in order to further develop collaboration, innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship in New York City.
