Event Details

Civic Service Forum is a event series for employees of municipal government to share strategies on creating cultures of innovation within their organizations and to talk about improving the services they provide.

Public-Private Collaboration

At our second Civic Service Forum event, we will be focusing on public-private collaborations. Adam Mansky from the Center for Court Innovation will talk about how his public-private organization has changed the City's community court system from the inside-out. Next, Jeff Maki from Control Group will talk about collaborating with the City to bring cutting-edge technology to our transporation systems. Lastly, Adam and Jeff will lead a discussion on the future of public-private collaborations within government.

Agenda

6:30 - Introduction

6:40 - Adam Mansky, Center for Court Innovation

7:00 - Jeff Maki, Control Group

7:20 - Roundtable discussion on innovation

8:00 - Networking

***Please note that this event is only open to government employees from City, State, Federal, or International agencies, including public higher education and nonprofit partners. One of the goals of this group is to create a safe forum for public servants to share ideas and projects. There will be events open to the general public in the future.

Speakers

Adam Mansky is the Center for Court Innovation’s director of operations. Adam supervises Bronx Community Solutions; Midtown Community Court; Newark Community Solutions; and the Red Hook Community Justice Center. He also supervises the Center’s technology department. Adam served as the Red Hook Community Justice Center’s planner, coordinating all aspects of design, construction and program development, and then, its first project director. He also led the planning and implementation of New Jersey’s Newark Community Solutions and provided support to the British government during the initial program design phase of the North Liverpool Community Justice Centre.

Jeff Maki is a product development manager at Control Group. Until recently, Jeff was director at Open Plans where he worked with cities to design and implement more effective infrastructure. Bus Time, one of Open Plans' prominent projects, included working with the MTA to create an open-source, real-time map of the agency's bus fleet. Jeff is also interested in art, architecture, design and technology and frequently collaborates with artists, designers, academics and practitioners to imagine situated, inclusive and sometimes speculative urban interventions.
