Description

Civic Dialogue -- St. Peter Gathering

In a context characterized by profound polarization, many of us are working to build, expand, and connect dialogue efforts as a means of fulfilling our institutions' civic missions. Toward that end, Minnesota Campus Compact is launching the Constitution Day Dialogue Initiative this September. Whether you intend to be involved in that particular initiative or simply want to add tools to your dialogue toolbox, please join us.

This gathering will include:

  • An overview of how to be involved in the 2018 Constitution Day Dialogue Initiative and how to access a mini-grant;

  • A train-the-trainer session on using Danielle Allen's Shared American Values exercise to ground civic dialogue;

  • An introduction to Intergroup Dialogue with Anita Chikkatur of Carleton College (remote participation option available); and

  • A workshop on preparing students to facilitate deliberative dialogues on community issues with Leila Brammer and Pamela Conners at Gustavus Adolphus College (remote participation option available).

Campus teams or individual faculty, staff, and administrators may register through May 11, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Participants may participate remotely in the trainings on Integroup Dialogue and preparing students to facilitate dialogue, via Zoom. Registration is free of charge to Minnesota Campus Compact members. Please choose either the in-person or the remote participant ticket option. With questions, contact Sinda Nichols at sinda@mncampuscompact.org or 612-436-2080.
