Iowa Campus Compact (IACC) is ready to work with the more than 400 colleges and universities that have signed Campus Compact’s 30th Anniversary Action Statement and committed to developing campus civic action plans in the year ahead.
Please join us for a Civic Action Planning Institute, facilitated by Campus Compact National President Andrew Seligsohn and IACC Executive Director Emily Shields, on January 20, 2017.
Iowa Campus Compact member institutions are eligible to attend this free event. Planning teams from each institution will receive inspiration, information, and time to share resources and ideas for leveraging existing campus infrastructure for engagement and explore new areas and opportunities for impact.
Teams should consist of at least three people and can be a small group that represents a larger planning process. More information on what to think about when forming your team can be found in the Guide to Creating a Great Campus Civic Action Plan.
Please register your team members by December 4 to reserve your space.
Last spring, all of Iowa Campus Compact’s member presidents signed the National Campus Compact Civic Action Statement. The statement includes a commitment to develop and share a Civic Action Plan within a year. IACC is working to support our member campuses in developing these plans.
At the Civic Action Planning Institute, teams from each campus will learn about new strategies and ideas for community engagement. They will also collaborate with groups from across the state and work together to create a Civic Action Plan.
THE AGENDA WILL INCLUDE:
- Overview of principles and goals of the 30th Anniversary Action Statement
- Introduction to campus civic action planning processes
- Exploration of key planning concepts
- Large group discussion
- Team planning time
A block of rooms will be available the Gateway Hotel for those who want to arrive the night of January 19.
