Claudia Booker, CPM, Birthing Hands DC
Claudia Booker is credential as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and is committed to providing comprehensive birth services, following the Midwifery Model of Care, for the broad spectrum of families across the Washington, D.C. area. As a CPM who also serves pregnant individuals giving birth in a hospital setting, she is one of an exclusive cadre of midwives, skilled health care professionals, who bring their midwifery skills and training to the doula role, assisting women to have the safe and joyous birth they planned and prepared for, within the parameters of sound medical practices.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Claudia is the second generation of Bookers to care for the children and families in the Washington metro area. As a multifaceted birth practitioner, she has supported over 900 expectant families on their journey through birth to parenthood.
Samantha Griffin, Owner of DC Metro Maternity
Samantha Griffin is a certified birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator and postpartum placenta specialist serving DC, suburban Maryland, and northern Virginia. Due to the high infant and maternal mortality rates among black women, as well as high rates of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and isolation among new families, DC Metro Maternity was founded to escort new parents and their babies through a vulnerable time- birth and the first year of a newborn’s life.
Lynne Lightfoote, M.D.
Dr. Lynne J. Lightfoote is an obstetrician and gynecologist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Lightfoote practices out of Foxhall OB/GYN Associates, located in Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Building A in Washington, D.C. and has expertise in high risk obstetrical care, as well as the treatment of menstrual disorders, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she received awards for her professional and clinical excellence in ambulatory women’s health care. Dr. Lightfoote is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
