The hiring event this date consists of a PT Test and a Background Book Interview. You are required to have your 45-page background book completed prior to the interview. This testing begins at 0830 hours.

HIRING PROCESS - FIRST STEP
Physical Agility Test
Background Book Interview
Physical Agility Test (PAT) will be conducted on November 4th at 0830 hours. The location for the PAT is at the Marietta High School track (1171 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA 30064), please come there and sign in.
Vertical Jump – 16.5 inches
1 Minute Sit Up – 27 sit ups
Push Ups – 18 push-ups (feet together on your toes, arms must come to a 90 degree angle)
300 Meter Run – 68 seconds or faster
1.5 Mile Run – 15:20 or faster
BACKGROUND BOOK INTERVIEW
The second part of the test day will be an individual interview with an Officer once you have completed the PAT. Click Background Book to get your copy to be completed. This is required to be completed prior to the 4th. This interview will be informal and brief; we will be reviewing your background book to ensure that it is complete and that there are no automatic disqualifiers in your history. Please print in your own handwriting using black/blue ink. Provide all information requested such as emails, addresses, phone numbers, etc. It is required that your background book is complete; you will disqualified during the interview if the background book is not complete. You will also need to bring all of the listed documents on page 3. These must be originals. You may wear your PT clothes to the interview.
If you absolutely cannot print off the background book, you may pick one up from Officer Valente at Marietta Headquarters. You must make an appointment to do so.
Georgia P.O.S.T. requires minimum scores from one of the following exams:
- Reading: 70
- Writing: 32
- Verbal: 430
- Math: 400
- Verbal (English & Reading):18
- Math: 9
- Reading: 38
- Writing: 35
- Reading: 75
- Math: 75
- English: 75
You will need to have written documentation of these scores. If you have never taken any of these exams or cannot locate your scores, you will need to take the COMPASS test at a local college. A college degree is not a substitute for these scores.
