Incorporated as a town under Indiana law in 1864, Greenwood's early economical growth started with the J.T. Polk Canning Company. The cannery was a major employer and canned a variety of vegetables grown in Indiana. Today, Greenwood’s economy is strong and growing steadily, providing an ideal climate for business growth and development.
