Description

Join Julia Richman, the City of Boulder's Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, to learn about the upcoming solicitation for construction services building the City's new fiber optic backbone infrastructure.

This webinar is intended for vendors interested in pursuing this work, either as a primary contractor or as a potential subcontracted partner. The City will outline the initiative's background and progress to date, the high-level specifications and expectations for construction services, and the expected solicitation timeline.

If time allows, the City will open the floor for a brief Q&A period. Note that all technical questions regarding proposed design specifications will be deferred until after the solicitation's release.

Community Broadband Background

The city’s vision is to provide a world-class community telecommunications infrastructure to Boulder for the 21 st Century and beyond. Broadband connectivity is a critical infrastructure service for quality of modern life, as is the case with roads, water, sewer and electricity. Based on current guiding principles, this service would provide an opportunity for every home, business, non-profit organization, government entity and place of education to access a fast affordable, and secure connection, and to provide the infrastructure necessary to support future technologies, such as advanced mobility and sensor-based (Smart City) analytic infrastructures.
