This class is open to residents of Oconee County. We regret that we have to impose this limitation, but we are limited in the number of students we can accommodate, and we simply can't turn away Oconee residents for those of other counties. We hope that those of you from other counties will be understanding of this.
Each class is limited to 20 students. This is all that we can safely accommodate on the range at one time. The range is on private property that a land owner graciously allows us to use. It is not a county facility. There is no running water. We suggest that you bring any snacks, drinks, and other personal comfort items that you think you may need.
There is no set minimum age for the classes. Participants should be able to follow directions and operate a firearm without physical assistance. All students should meet in the Jail parking lot at 8:00AM on the date of the event. We will conduct a classroom session at the Sheriff's Office, and then we will convoy to the range.
Students will need a firearm in that is in proper working order and at least 50 rounds of ammunition for it. You are encouraged to bring personal safety items to include eye and ear protection as well as a hat with a brim.
