Description
Wine & Cheese 6pm
Movie 7pm
Conversation 8:30pm
Jane Jacobs is an icon for walkability and great urbanism. This film chronicles her fight to preserve walkable neighborhoods in New York City. The antagonist, Robert Moses, was one of the most polarizing figures in the history of urban development in the United States.
“Jane is known for her ideas and her books. But what plays out in the movie is what a great activist she was. She mobilized her community, her neighborhood, her city to fight against what most people thought were insurmountable odds.” — Robert Hammond
You are invited to join the UrbanOxnard and Oxnard Community Planning Group crew for some fine conversation after the film. Oxnard has its planning challenges and great “bones”. Let’s come together, in good cheer, around a vision for a walkable downtown Oxnard, Oxnard Boulevard, and Oxnard Main Street Corridors.
