Description

Cities play a critical role in the functioning of the global economy. Urbanization is a megatrend and the growing importance of cities means that their environmental impacts are dramatic if things do not change. Cities account for significant CO2 emissions each year, and they are places where biodiversity is declining and pollution enters our waterways.

We need to advance solutions that can help our cities become part of the solution rather than remain part of the problem.

The City of Helsinki is one such city that is advancing solutions for sustainability, but there are others on the journey as well. One common theme shared by leading cities is that they are embracing digitalization as part of their strategy to deal with climate change and other environmental challenges.

Loudspring kindly invites you to join us in celebrating the efforts of the City of Helsinki as well as hearing from keynote speakers about climate change, digitalization and environmental leadership in the city context at an afterwork event at the G Live Lab in Helsinki.

‘Cities of Change – Digitalization, Climate Change and the City’ will feature a number of keynote speakers who will share their insights and experiences on how Helsinki is managing to become a global leader.

Speakers include:

Tiina Kähö - Smart & Clean Foundation, Executive Director

Mika Hakosalo - Local Governments for Sustainability Europe - GrowSmarter Initiative

Olli Parkkonen – Business Development Nuuka Solutions

Dr Joonas Merikanto - Finnish Meteorological Institute, Climate System Modelling

And more speakers to be announced soon.

There will be a limited number of complimentary drinks and food also.
