Event description

Description

In Boulder, as in many other communities, concerns about climate change don’t always address the impacts on our landscapes and associated ecosystems—both urban, agricultural, and wildlands. While there are many efforts focusing on different aspects of ecosystems—pollinator protection, urban forest change assessment, wildlife advocacy--much of the environmental planning and management efforts have been fragmented across groups.

The focus of this day-long summit will be on developing solutions. A number of significant, local environmental initiatives will be announced at the gathering.

If you are:

  • Growing concerned about how climate change and urban development may be impacting our local ecosystems

  • Aware of indicators such as species declines (pollinators, song birds, aquatic species), unusual animal behaviors, urban forest die back (from Emerald Ash Borer, other insects & diseases)

  • Curious about what’s being done locally and how you might help

Then join a gathering of local citizens, scientists, public officials, and non-profits to explore emerging ecosystem threats and how we can coordinate efforts to respond most effectively!

This will be a great opportunity to learn about and connect with local efforts to address these important issues. A major goal of this convening is to begin laying the foundation for a more integrated approach to ecosystems stewardship and monitoring across urban, agricultural and wildland systems.
