Description

Circus is delighted to present this London Design Festival panel discussion exploring play and experimentation across art and science. The evening of debate is inspired by Oliver’s solo show here at Circus, Imago – A dragonfly in motion: a celebration of the poetic and the mechanic; of natural history, art and engineering.

Our Circus panel includes Oliver Smart, Artist and Puppeteer, Dr. Huai-Ti Lin, Imperial College, Dr. Ben Price, Natural History Museum, and Dr. Katy Barrett, Science Museum. The panel will be chaired by Dilys Maltby, Senior Partner at Circus.

Join us to explore the exhibition and discuss the seriousness of play, the joy of experimental communication and the benefits of cross-disciplinary working.

Join the debate at St Marylebone School, followed by drinks opposite in the Circus gallery.

Imago – A dragonfly in motion

Circus Exhibition

Our current exhibition, Imago – A dragonfly in motion, celebrates a movement between the poetic and the mechanical, as distinguished puppet maker, performer and artist Oliver Smart showcases his puppet Dragonfly Imago in this interactive show. Oliver’s work is created through a movement between art, biology and engineering – embracing experiments, examining the detail and playing with possibilities.

The exhibition is open until 21 November, Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.

Circus Season

To celebrate collaboration and conversation beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries, Circus is hosting a Season of events throughout London Design Festival. Bring the mechanical puppets to life, meet the artist and international experts from across disciplines or join a movement masterclass in our upcoming Circus Season.
