Circulate: Night at the Library
Event Information
About this Event
Join us at Circulate: Night at the Library, the signature fundraising event of The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
Experience the many meanings of circulate as you move through beautiful Central Library in Downtown Indianapolis. Play rounds of mini golf, sit in a circle for comedic story times, huddle up for art programs, gather around to see live animals and more!
Library Mini Golf
Winding throughout Central Library, you will find 18 holes of golf! Show off your putt-putt skills and see if you can sink a hole-in-one. Indianapolis author John David Anderson will be in attendance in advance of his new book release, “One Last Shot”.
Kris Hurst – “Nature Mandalas”
Using natural materials, participants create temporary mandalas. Participants can work individually or in groups, then when the mandala is complete, you can take a photo of it. This program teaches students math concepts of pattern, symmetry and reflection. This activity is led by a Teaching Artist with Arts for Learning.
Lawrence Clark – “Drum Dialogues”
Participants will learn the power of rhythm both within bodies and in the music we create. Participants will explore how drumming mimics our heartbeat and breathing. Students need to attune their inner rhythms in order to learn – this helps students’ sensory and motor systems and teaches creative expression. This activity is led by a Teaching Artist with Arts for Learning.
Hedgehog Hannah – Animal Show
See what cute, cuddly, maybe scaly creatures are hanging out in the Library tonight! Programs like these introduce youth to animals they may otherwise not encounter and teach basic biology principles.
Library Activities
Come see what happens in The Learning Curve! Robots, coding and more! Our interactive activities are aligned with academic standards and incorporate a variety of technologies to ensure a dynamic, hands-on learning experience. Led by IndyPL staff.
Irreverent Storytimes
Hear some of our librarians read aloud their favorite quirky and eccentric nighttime stories. Storytimes remain an important part of the Library’s programs because they encourage empathy and introduce or reinforce literacy concepts, such as vocabulary, sound awareness and cause and effect.
The event is for adults 18+. Each ticket includes activities & programs, two drinks, appetizers, silent auction and live music.
