  • Friday, December 8, 2017 - Florida Rules for Line Item and Pooled Reserves
    A detailed explanation of the differences between line item and pooled reserves will be discussed in this presentation, as well as how an association may convert from line item reserves to pool reserves, how budgeted funding for each method calculates, and the benefits of one approach versus the other.

    For many members of an association’s board of directors, understanding their association’s financial statements can be difficult at times. This seminar will provide easy to understand explanations of an association’s financial statements and how they are used to properly manage association affairs.

    Did you know that many people think that community associations are exempt from income taxes? This seminar will discuss the income tax law affecting community associations, the different types of income tax return that a community association can elect to file, and the pros and cons of each tax filing.

  • Friday, March 2, 2018 - Protecting Your Association from Fraud
    Boards of directors are ultimately responsible for protecting the assets of their associations. This seminar will provide an overview of how your system of internal controls should be structured, as well as an overview of common frauds affecting community associations and how you can protect your group from them.

  • Friday, April 13, 2018 - Basics of State and Local Taxes
    Many associations believe they are tax exempt from payment of sales tax on purchases – not to mention other transactions involving the collection of additional sources of income that are also subject to sales tax. This seminar will provide an overview of how community associations are affected by Florida's Sales and Use tax and other taxes such as the Tangible Personal Property Tax.
