Event description

Description

Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen | Michael Stuhlbarg, Richard Kind

Set in 1967, this rewriting of the book of Job follows Larry Gopnik, a midwestern physics professor facing a series of calamities. His wife is leaving him, his son is listening to rock and roll, his brother-in-law is a deadbeat camped out on the sofa, his daughter is stealing -- and Larry may not even get tenure. Why is all this this happening? Is the answer in the maze of equations Larry writes on the blackboard? Or does it have something to do with the dybbuk an ancestor invited to cross his threshold? Mysticism and the banality of midwestern suburbia combine in this funny, thought-provoking film.
