Event description

Description

The fourth annual Churro Week will celebrate the deep local roots of the livestock. From Sept. 26 through Oct. 1, the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center (EVFAC) is hosting a series of workshops, films, fieldtrips and lectures to teach visitors and participants about the Navajo-Churro breed. The event will be held both at EVFAC and at the Rio Arriba County Fairgrounds Rural Events Center.

EVFAC Director of Operations April Jouse said, “Highlights include a lecture by Dr. Lyle McNeil who is responsible for restoring the breed to current day numbers. In addition, to understand and experience the tremendous diversity of the breed’s use, attendees can visit and shop a marketplace of works made with Churro wool by local fiber artists, and also attend a lamb tasting fundraiser.” Key partners in the event are the Navajo-Churro Sheep Association and the Navajo-Churro Sheep Presidium.

All classes held include your Churro Week pass of choice. All Churro Week passes allow you to attend as many events as you would like - except the Churro Tasting Event. This will be a seperately ticketed event which is a fundraiser for the Navajo-Churro Sheep Presidium.
