Description

The Practice of Breathing

Continuing our theme of Deepening Oneness through spiritual practice, we’ll focus this month on the practice of breathing. Virtually every creature needs oxygen to survive. We humans are born knowing how to breathe, but busy and distracted as we are, we’re often disconnected from the life-giving qualities every breath offers, not to mention the Divine source of all breath. In the effortless and intentional practice of breathing, we relax and surrender into the universal and healing breath connecting ourselves to the Mysterious Presence, to each other and to the world.

Gathering of Church of the Wild

Come early to join in the drumming around the fire starting at 2:40 pm.

Please note that there will be no spiritual nature walk before the Church of the Wild gathering this month.

Location

During the winter, we will be meeting at Dayspring Retreat Center in Germantown (just north of Gaithersburg) so that we might have a roaring fire to keep us warm. It's closer than you might think! Only a half-hour from most locations in the DC area. Many thanks to Dayspring for their generosity in hosting us. Specific directions below.

Carpool

Parking is limited and we want to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible, so please carpool if possible! Please use our online carpool sign up if you are interested in coordinating transportation to the gathering! Please indicate in the waitlist section if you'd like to be picked up or dropped off at a metro station.

About Church of the Wild DC-VA-MD

Coming from many faith traditions, Church of the Wild gathers monthly in the Metro DC area to honor the mutual indwelling of the Divine with the Earth and all of its beings, remembering our sacred interconnection and interdependence through contemplative spiritual practices, music, and wanderings. As participants in the web of creation, we seek to be attentive to the Holy in our midst and invite one another to come home to the sacred ecological ground in which we live. This groundedness guides us to live from a place of deeper compassion, care and gratitude for all living things.

All Are Welcome!

We strive to be intergenerational and accessible to all.

We welcome children and can offer age-appropriate programming. Please contact us when you'll be attending with children or when accessibility is a concern so that we can be fully welcoming. All are welcome and respected!

ASL Interpretation Available

We are now happy to provide ASL interpretation if desired. Just please let us know if you would like us to make this available to you
