Event description

Nurturing Creatureliness

Continuing this year's focus on Deepening Oneness, this month we consider ways we can develop our creatureliness within the Divine Mystery by intentionally and imaginatively "re-wilding." We’ll focus on ways to be in and on our sacred lands as if every presence is aware of and participatory with us, and we with them. Practicing creatureliness is a lifelong journey that deepens our eco-self and helps us walk in the world as “we” rather than “I.”

You are welcome to join us for any part of the day!

1:30 p.m. Nature Walk with Beth
2:40 p.m. Drumming circle
3:00 p.m. Church of the Wild

Spiritual Nature Walk Before Church of the Wild

Join Beth before our gathering as she leads us in a casual one-hour spiritual nature walk where together we will learn about, delight in, and take wisdom from, our local sacred landscape. It's also a great way to get to know the human members of our community!

The walk will begin promptly at 1:30 pm and will take us down a couple of hills which might be muddy and slick. The trail is very manageable with a walking stick and help from each other. We will be back in time for the 2:40 drum circle.

Please email us so we know who's coming!

Join the Drumming!

Come at 2:40 to join in the drumming to help us center and prepare for our gathering.

Gathering of Church of the Wild

We'll be gathering 3:00 p.m. at Carderock Recreation Area located in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. There is a short five-minute walk along a dirt path to the gathering site which is mostly flat but uneven and rocky in a few areas. We will send out detailed directions to our gathering site after registration.

Carpool/Public Transportation Encouraged

We want to live lightly and in harmony with the earth in all that we do, so please carpool or use public transportation if possible. More instructions on using our carpooling sign-up will be sent after registration.

About Church of the Wild DC-VA-MD

Coming from many faith traditions, Church of the Wild gathers monthly in the Metro DC area to honor the mutual indwelling of the Divine with the Earth and all of its beings, remembering our sacred interconnection and interdependence through contemplative spiritual practices, music, and wanderings. As participants in the web of creation, we seek to be attentive to the Holy in our midst and invite one another to come home to the sacred ecological ground in which we live. This groundedness guides us to live from a place of deeper compassion, care and gratitude for all living things.

All Are Welcome!

We strive to be intergenerational and accessible to all. We welcome children and can offer age-appropriate programming. Please contact us when you'll be attending with children or when accessibility is a concern so that we can be fully welcoming. All are welcome and respected!
