Meet four lovable Lutheran ladies who serve up Lutefisk & Lefse with love in the Church basement. This charming musical comedy is based on the bestseller Growing Up Lutheran by Janet Letnes Martin & Suzann Nelson. The musical is adapted by Jessica Zuehlke & Jim Stowell, with lyrics by Jim Stowell who also wrote music for How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical.
Mrs. Gilmer Gilmerson (Sue Ann Davis Mitley) & Mrs. Elroy Engelson (Vicki Anderson Elwood) & her daughter Signe (Samantha Schell) who attends the University of Minnesota. all have their duties with the record-breaking fundraiser. These Norwegian Lutherans are led by Pastor Gunderson (Daniel Norton) of the Cornucopia Lutheran Church. These Lutheran lasses share recipes, church gossip and serve up delicious traditional Norwegian faire. Mrs. Lars Snustad (Janet Papenfuss)the staunch Norwegian matriarch, is resistant to change.
Church Basement Ladies has resonated with Midwest women who grew up in the church.
