Event description

As Mary and Joseph were alone and had no place which would take them in until the birth of Jesus -- this special retreat will celebrate Christmas as Mary, Joseph and nearby shepherds with angels in attendance . . .

through Christmas Eve Mass at the Families For Families Retreat House ideally suited for the joyous celebration of the birth of Christ. Those who have no special place to be -- are welcome here especially the unattached, single or poor as was the Holy Family.

The retreat house, an historic landmark is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places which was my home before I was ordained a Catholic priest and now serves as a weekend retreat house throughout the year from Friday evening or Saturday morning through Sunday evening or Monday morning. The house has four guest bedrooms, three suitable for married couples or single individuals and two single rollout beds when needed increasing the possible number of guests to six.

Reservations for this special retreat must be made no later than Wednesday, December 13th and will require that you complete the reservation form with your home address and phone number.

You may expect a phone call from me to answer any questions you may have or you can call me at (815) 793-7465. If we do not connect leave a voicemail when I can reach you by telephone. Without your phone number I will not recognize any call you may make. If you leave a voicemail let me know when I may call you.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to attend the event?

18 years old or older.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

If traveling by car parking is available onsite. If traveling by bus or train the nearest depot is in Middletown, New York, a five mile drive to the retreat center. If possible I may be able to pick you up and return you to the bus or train terminal in Middletown which you would have to first discuss with me.

What can I bring into the event?

Personal clothing and belonging for the number of days you will be here. Cell phone and other electronic devices, however, will not be allowed in the retreat house.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Contact me by either email, or telephone (815)793-7465.

Is there a schedule provided?

Except for the daily morning Mass, our meals together and two daily group discussions of the Office of the Hours, in the morning and the afternoon -- we maintain silence throughout the retreat.

At the beginning of the retreat you will receive a copy the Church's Office of the Hours along with instructions on it use. Otherwise, the time is yours to do as you please, explore the scenic landscape, read, nap or engage in whatever you choose as long as it does not disturb others on retreat. You may as you choose help with some household and kitchen chores, maintain the two fireplaces, etc., all in silence. Casual greetings, "Good Morning" and the like are, of course, simply good etiquette.
