Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 – 12 noon – 4 p.m. – Christmas comes early in Kensington. Join the Yellow Pages Shop the Neighbourhood crew as they journey through the neighbourhood handing out free swag! Santa will also be hitting the streets searching for happy shoppers to take selfies with! Don’t forget to post yours using the hashtag #SantaSelfies and tag Kensington on Instagram and Twitter @KensingtonYYC for your chance to win a Kensington shopping gift certificate!
Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 – 12 noon – 4 p.m. – Kensington Loves Veterans. Visit the Kensington hub tent in front of the Plaza Theatre to warm yourself up with a complimentary cup of Starbucks hot chocolate and coffee courtesy of TELUS, before hopping on a short, cheerful tour of the neighbourhood via horse and wagon! Make sure to head over to the Poppy Plaza and pick a candy cane off the Christmas candy cane tree to be entered into a draw to win great neighbourhood prizes! Stantec representatives will be on site collecting donations for the Calgary Poppy Fund and Veterans Food Bank and chatting about the importance of Poppy Plaza! Lastly, make your way over to the Plaza Theatre for a 3:30 p.m. showing of Miracle on 34th Street. The film will be pay by donation, with all proceeds supporting the Poppy Fund and Veterans Food Bank.
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 – 12 noon – 4 p.m. – Family-Fun-For-All. Nobody can resist adorable Petting Zoo animals from Butterfield Acres. Come get your cuddle on from 1 p.m.-3 p.m, with the cutest baby bunnies in town. Sip complimentary hot chocolate, get serenaded by Christmas tunes sang by the Rock n Roll Carolers and snap selfies with Santa. Stop by the Plaza Theatre at 3:30 p.m. to enjoy a Christmas favourite, Elf, with the whole family. The Calgary Dream Centre will also be in the neighbourhood sharing their passion and stories for how they’re fighting to end homelessness in our city.
Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 - Sip, Shop and Selfie! With over 271 retail shops, Kensington is a Christmas shopping gold mine! Enjoy a delicious brunch at one of the local restaurants, sip a warm cup of coffee and check off your Christmas shopping list at the boutique shops. Keep an eye out for Calgary’s most sought-out fashion photographers who will be in the neighbourhood snapping pictures of their favourite outfits. Finish the day off by grabbing a date, and cuddling up for an afternoon showing of The Holiday at 3:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre, and hitting up one of Kensington’s hotspots to enjoy top notch food and bevy’s! The Buckspring Foundation will be in Kensington raising money to help people in practical ways, locally and globally with a focus on widows and orphans, marginalized people and those in financial need.
Sunday, Dec. 24, 2016 – Christmas Eve in Kensington! Lights, decorations, carolers and Christmas cheer – there’s no better way to celebrate Christmas Eve. Grab your last minute gifts, say hello to Santa and sing Christmas tunes on the horse and wagon ride. At 3:30 p.m. head down to the Plaza Theatre to get your final Christmas movie fix with Home Alone.Pacekids Programs will be in the neightbourhood, their organization is family-focused and strives for excellence in the therapy, education and family empowerment of children with special needs.
