Event description

Description

Christina Broom (née Livingston 28 December 1862 – 5 June 1939) was the first female press photographer and the Household Cavalry's official photographer. In 1904, a chance assignment with the Scots Guards triggered a chain of events which culminated in Broom’s appointment as official photographer to the Household Division, comprising the Brigade of Guards and the Household Cavalry. She went on to photograph the Household Cavalry during their involvement in the First World War.

Through the lens of a century passed, these photos at times amusing at others heart breaking, but always fascinating, prove an insightful window into the lives of a society on the brink of unimaginable change.

The evening will run as follows:
18:00hrs - Drinks available on arrival (wine and soft drinks)
18:30hrs - Broom talk and collection handling session
19:00hrs - Museum tours available
