Chris Daniels & The Kings

Chris Daniels & the Kings played their first show on March 14, 1984. Chris was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame with Judy Collins in 2013. He and the Kings have toured Europe 20 times and played in the States from South Carolina to Seattle, New York City to LA. In 2012 Freddi Gowdy of the classic funk band "Freddi Henchi & The Soulsetters" joined the Kings. The seven piece rockin' band, called "funky-blues" by the Europeans, is an all out "horn band" celebrating 30 years of making great R&B, funk, "jump blues" and Funk & Roll. In THE SUMMER OF 2015 they will be touring behind their 14th CD FUNKY TO THE BONE.. They will be IN EUROPE in 2015 for their 21st tour! They have been compared to "Little Feat with horns" and "John Hiatt meets Tower of Power" and "Keb Mo meets The Subdudes with horns." In 2013 Chris was nominated for a Grammy for his work as a singer and songwriter on "Jungle Jazz" with Al Jarreau.

Europe: in 1990 the Kings signed to Provogue Records (Robert Cray, Joe Bonamassa) and they had two #1 records in Holland - making a name for themselves touring the continent: playing for the Queen of Holland at the 50 Year VE Day Celebration and at Europe's famous Parkpop Rock Festival for 450,000. They have headlined festivals from Mediterranean to the North Sea. They have had number one records on Holland's number one rock show, "Countdown Café" and had front page success with cover articles in De Telegraph and De Standard in Amsterdam and Brussels.

RECORDINGS: Their latest, FUNKY TO THE BONE featuring Freddi Gowdy has been compared to Sly & The Family Stone meet Chicago 67. It's winning praise all across America and Europe including reviews in Amsterdam, Denmark and Australia "

TOURING: Chris Daniels & the Kings have toured over two continents and have been asked to appear in such diverse places as The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, South America, Curacao and all over Europe. Chris has appeared with the B.B. King, Uncle Cracker, Blues Traveler, The Neville Brothers, Delbert McClinton, Sister Hazel, Sheryl Crow, Robert Cray, Taj Mahal, Al Kooper, Bonnie Raitt, Ziggy Marley, The Fixx, to name only a few. They are headliners on international festivals, like Ribs & Blues Festival with their buddies THE BLUESMASTERS, at Marktrock, Berchem Blues, and the Lokeren festivals in Belgium, and the Kings have toured as the back up band for Sonny Landreth, David Bromberg, Al Kooper, Bo Diddly, Francine Reed and Dutch guitarist Jan Rijbroek in places like Paris, Rome, and Amsterdam, and with Bonnie Raitt and members of Little Feat and Was Not Was at the Roxey in LA to name only a few they have worked with in the States and Europe. Die hard fans from Italy to Holland rocked with this remarkable artist on TV including a groundbreaking high-definition TV show for HDnet the all high definition TV, VH-1, TNN, Much Music/Canada, NIppon TV/Japan, Crooked River Grove, KUSA, and on Onhe Filter, AVRO, KAVRO, Paris MTV, and Brussles 1, in Europe, on Swing TV in Buenos Ares, Argentina and in 2007 on the Altitude Sports and Entertainment Network

Chris Daniels is not related to Charlie or Jack so he's had to bust his ass with his guitar -- starting as a 17 year old song writer and guitarist back in the 70s when he played with Kate Taylor, David Johansen, (before the New York Dolls) and later with Russell Smith (after The Rhythm Aces). Chris has preformed thousands of shows averaging 150 concerts a year in 2013 and 2014. He has worked making records with some of the most respected musicians in the business including Sonny Landreth, Sam Bush, David Bromberg, Al Kooper, Bill Payne, and Don Was to name only a few. As a record producer of several CDs (including the award winning "Icos" for Hazel Miller "ICONS" that featuring standards and guests like famed trumpeter Ron Miles) he's recieved nominations from the Grammy organization for albums in Children's Music, Blues and Americana categories.

As a guitarist, song writer, and band leader Chris has served as musical director with his band when the Kings backed Francine Reed, The Coaster, Drifters, Platters, Bo Diddly, Was Not Was, Mary Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Percy Sledge, solo members of Little Feat, Sam Bush, John Cowan and many others.

As a singer, Chris has been featured on commercials all across the US and Canada for McDonalds, Ford, Coors Beer, Village Inn and many more.

Chris Daniels was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame (which resides at famed Red Rocks outdoor theater) in 2013. He's played Red Rocks five times and if you asked him what all this means he'd say, "I'm just lucky to be alive...lucky I get to play...and lucky I get to teach." Since 2002 Daniels has been a college professor - currently serving as an Assistant Professor at CU Denver's College or Arts & Media. He's won two awards for his teaching. In 2010 he was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML-M4). As Chris has said many times, "Every day is a gift."

Freddi Gowdy

Freddi Gowdy, of the legendary 1970s soul-band Freddi Henchi & The Soul Setters, and Chris Daniels (inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2013, Grammy nominee and leader of Chris Daniels & The Kings) came together to make the long awaited Kings' 13th album and the 1st of a series with Freddi and Chris together in Sam & Dave style collaboration.

Both are legends beyond their home in Denver including 20 European tours for CD & The Kings and years of touring and single releases on Warner Brothers and other labels for Freddi. The band just finished a 70 show summer run that included festivals in Colorado, Amsterdam, and The States.

Appearances in the past year included The New West Festival with War, KBCO Studio C and the PBS Channel 6 Arts & Entertainment Special. Daniels, Gowdy and the Kings came together with Billy Payne from Little Feat, Hazel Miller (Big Head Todd & The Monsters) Carl Carlyle (Earth Wind & Fire), Christian Teele (E Town) and a host of amazing players to create the sweet soul-funk of "Funky To The Bone." It has all the elements of Sly & The Family Stone, Chicago 1967 and the Saturday Night Live Band rolled into one package that comes out early in 2015.
