Event description

Description

Join us for a special premiere of Chop Shop: A Community & Law Enforcement Conversation. This documentary film facilitates a youth-lead dialogue between San Francisco residents of color and local law enforcement in barbershops across the city. The film highlights topics of implicit bias, people of color in law enforcement, violence and ways of moving forward together.

Following the screening will be a panel discussion with San Francisco law enforcement — a chance for audience members to confront issues affecting their communities, as well as make a tangible impression on youth, our future leaders. Constructive conversation in an open forum is the first step toward positive change, and a way to address misconceived notions between communities of color and law enforcement.

Our objective is to address the tension and develop a set of recommendations to change the current culture, and we can’t do it without you. Bring YOUR voice to the conversation — join us for this timely event and have your voices heard.

This screening will be the second in a three-part series. Chop Shop will also be screened on March 8th at the Bayview Opera House from 7-9pm.
