Event description

Description

As part of our talks on how narrative is changing with digital technologies, we are honoured to welcome Anrick Bregman, Unit9 Interactive Director and founder of ANRK cross-disciplinary XR Studio.

"How the real and virtual will gradually merge to create our collective future, and we can all choose our reality"

Talk description:

I am interested in how increasingly in our lives, separate strands of reality co-exist, and how each of them challenges us to think about what reality for us personally actually is. This relates in the short term to technologies like Virtual and Augmented reality. But in the longer term it includes artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies.

I explore how they are merging, and what happens when they will combine in the coming years, to create our collective future: where our virtual and real lives are intimately intertwined, and become infinitely more diverse as they span across different realities.

I will talk about my recent VR & AR work, as well as forthcoming research, and projects I’ve seen that are interesting and noteworthy.

About “disLAB Presents…”

“disLAB presents” is a series of free encounters organized by the digital and interactive storytelling LAB – a new MA @ University of Westminster.

If you are interested in digital journalism, interactive documentary, apps for social change, VR, educational video games or just digital communication, this series of encounters is for you. The aim is to invite students and media makers to join the conversation with practitioners, so that together we can act as a creative community.

disLAB challenges the use of digital media to do exciting storytelling. It is about being creative and becoming the storytellers of the future. For this, it is important to be exposed to current practices, be inspired by great makers, help eachother and dare to innovate.

By inviting successful digital storytellers to share their current projects and expertise in an informal setting, we hope to bridge the gap between industry and universities. Let’s help eachother!

Please note: This event is free but registration is essential. Don't just turn up as we are often fully booked!
