• decades history of human and civil rights work

• was elected City Councilman of Jackson, MS, 2009
• won the release of the Scott sisters who were wrongly imprisoned for 16 years
• successfully represented Tupac Shakur in Atlanta for 3 years
• represented political prisoner Mutulu Shakur
• successfully represented one of the 
  defendants in the Rodney King uprising in Los Angeles
• organized relief for Hurricane Katrina survivors

Chokwe’s mayoral campaign continues his decades-long work for human rights, self-determination and economic growth, through the dynamic Jackson Plan and People's Assemblies.  A victory for Chokwe means a victory for all of us!
