Event description

Description

Old Pasadena Day of the Dead presents a free presentation by UCLA Lecturer Lee Scott Theisen, Ph.D.

Theisen draws connections between the origins of chocolate and Day of the Dead traditions, beginning 3,000 years ago. For Mesoamericans, chocolate was a ritual drink from baptism to death, known later as "The Love Drug," and "chemically the world's most perfect food."

Lecture-goers are treated to a gourmet chocolate tasting.
