Event Details

Have you ever wondered about the thousands of inscriptions on Green-Wood’s gravestones? How were they were carved? What makes some truly spectacular and some not so great? Join us for a unique adventure with John Nash, modern-day stone carver and teacher of lettering and calligraphy. Nash has plied his craft in England and America for decades, inscribing monuments for Westminster Abbey, Harvard University, Yale University, Rhodes House at Oxford, and many other historic sites. He is in New York for a rare visit (he’s completing an inscription at Green-Wood) and will share his insights and expertise on this once-in-a-lifetime tour. Jeff Richman, Green-Wood's historian, will introduce Nash and give context and history as we go along.

$20 for members of Green-Wood and BHS / $25 for non-members
