Description

Chinese Art as Symbols of Power
Saturday, March 23, 2019
9:30 am–1 pm
ImaginAsia classroom, level B2
Arthur M. Sackler Gallery

How do works of art assert one’s power in life, in the afterlife, and in the spiritual realm? Through guided tours and gallery activities, explore Chinese art as symbols of power, from intricately cut jades and ceremonial bronze containers to massive bells from tombs and Buddhist sculpture from cave temples. Take the learning back to your classroom with lesson plans designed for middle and high school students, printed materials, and a Learning Lab Collection you can adapt and share with your students. This program is free of charge and light refreshments will be served. Certificates of attendance, which can be submitted for professional learning credits, will be issued to participants after the workshop.

Pre-registration by Wednesday, March 20, is required.
